2 Reasons To Hire A Solar Contractor To Get You Started

Posted on: 5 February 2020

Solar power is a very popular renewable energy source for people who are trying to lower their carbon footprint and cut their energy costs. If you are one of the people who wants to expand out into using solar power at your house, you want to make sure that it's installed correctly. In order to do that, you want to make sure that you have a solar contractor come out to install your solar panels and the system for you. There are two reasons why you should go this route.

Proper Placement

One reason is that you are going to want to use a solar contractor is that they are going to make sure that the solar panels you choose are going to be placed in the right position. If they aren't set up in the right place, facing the correct direction, and at the correct angle, they might not work. The angle it needs to be set varies from area to area because of where the sun comes up at different latitudes. In order to catch the most sun to generate the most amount of power, the angle needs to be properly set, which means there are certain formulas and measurements that need to be taken and used.

Wired Correctly

Another reason that you need to have a contractor come out to help you with your solar system is that they are going to be able to help wire your house safely for it. Solar power is DC, which means direct current. Houses aren't set up for DC power. They are set up for AC, or alternating current, power. If you try to run DC power into an AC system, you are going to end up shorting your electrical system. That means that you are going to end up with some expensive repairs. However, if you have the wiring from the solar panels go into an inverter, then the inverter will turn the DC into AC. The solar contractor can also help you set up a battery bank, which means that you can store up the energy that you are generating and use it as needed. In that case, the inverter will run in between the battery bank and the house system.

If you want to go with solar power, then you want to make sure that the people installing it for you know what they are doing. A solar contractor can help you with that, and get you started.
